Meine Mission nach Deutschland: Samstag, Mai 12, 2012

Well, tomorrow is Mother's Day. I'm sure Mom is stoked. Tomorrow will be great, because I will be Skyping home which is cool, and then tomorrow Okafor is getting baptized. His baptism is right after church tomorrow. He had his baptismal interview with the bishop on Monday of this week, and then we are meeting with him tonight for the last time before his baptism. We will meet with him 3 times this week. He is doing good, though, and he is looking forward to his baptism. He would not be getting baptized if it wasn't for his friend Gabriel who is a member. Gabriel was baptized about 2 years ago, but Gabriel has been helping him out with everything. The last time we met with the two of them, we had what they call ‘Melon Soup’. Some African dish. It was okay. I wouldn't be all that up for eating it again (ha). They are wanting to feed us African food every time we come over now, though.

Then, also this past week, we started teaching a women named Jane. She is from Nigeria/England. She was born and raised in Nigeria, but had been living in England for the past 9 years until a couple of months ago. We have met with her twice, though, and she also wants to be baptized now. She said she wants to be closer to Jesus so we told her the best way to get closer to Jesus is by reading in the Book of Mormon. She said she believes that Christ and Heavenly Father appeared to Joseph Smith. She will be coming to church today and attending the baptism of Okafor.

On Thursday this last week, we had in our mission a "Finding Day". All the missionaries in our mission on this day were not to have any appointments except for a few exceptions, and just be outside the whole day talking to people. Thank goodness Elder Buntain and I were allowed to take part. We all started at 11am, though, and ended at 9 pm. Elder Buntain and I didn't eat lunch or anything, we just went the whole day talking with people. That was a pretty hard day. Getting rejected gets old. We started out by working in the area of where our Bishop and Ward Mission Leader lived. Someone told us that most convert baptisms are people who live in the area of the Bishop or Ward Mission Leader, so we went and worked in their areas. Then we worked in the area of the university and in the area of a member's home. It was a long day. It was a really nice day, though. It was really sunny and around 75°F. Our mission on this “Finding Day”, though, found over 550 people who want to learn more about the gospel. There will be another “Finding Day” and all of the German missions will be taking part in it. That is going to be a crazy day.

Things are awesome right now, though. A lot of the younger people over here are starting wonder what's going to happen to them in the future - is this life really all by chance, or is there something more. At least that’s what we have been noticing, so the Plan of Salvation is perfect for them.

Today we went to the Deutsches Museum (German Museum) for P-Day. That place is huge! It's got about everything imaginable inside, too. That's all for this week.
